Low energy-low effort
I’m convinced, after 5+ years Stephen Mills’ Nutcracker, that he’s bored with this performance that he’s required to do annually. The orchestra was AMAZING…but the choreography and stage performance was BORING and low energy…just going through the motions to be done with it. Clara, mouse king, sugar plum fairy….all forgettable costumes and performances…don’t think anyone broke a sweat. Audience was trying to be respectful and applaud individual's performances but it rarely seemed deserved. I think Austin Ballet needs an injection of new talent…starting with the choreographer.
