Absolutely fabulous!
I’m one of the many Los Angeles to Austin transplants, and after hearing from my LA friends about how great this show was, I was thrilled to see that Austin was on the tour. I immediately purchased tickets and am so glad I did. The performance at Bass Hall last night took me down memory lane, as I’ve been a huge fan of the Temps from the beginning, but I still learned some trivia I’d never known (Tammy Turrell and David Ruffin were an item?), but the music, the dancing and the sets stole the show. So much talent and energy! And no, it wasn’t “just my imagination.†They paid great homage to the real deal. Now I can’t stop listening to my Temps playlist and longing for more.
Amazing
We did see this in NYC a few years ago and jumped at the opportunity to see in again. Such a wonderful company. The music is amazing but the story behind one of the greats groups around is moving. Highly recommend this musical.
Winter evaporates with the high energy glow of this performance
First concert I saw at the age of 14 was The Temptations at The Valley Forge Music Fair and the feeling was back in full force at this performance. I read the book, saw the TV mini series, but the theater performance fleshes out the story with more humor than the other renderings of their story. I can’t give enough praise to the entire cast, some of whom have been with the show before and others who have not. The strength and purity of their voices is stunning. They put so much spot on effort into the songs and fresh choreography of The Temps style and sound you easily believe you are watching actual members of the group. They really do take you there. You will cry, there are many well played poignant reminders of the prices they all paid for their success yet you are left with great positivity and will, without a doubt, be listening to a lot of Temptations deep cuts after going to the show. See it! Maybe even twice.
Fabulous show
What a great show. The "Temps" had people dancing, singing, and clapping in their seats. The music and choreography were fabulous. And I learned a lot about the Temptations history. 5 stars for sure!
Fantastic much better than the six
I saw the six then I saw ain't too proud. There is no comparison. The six can't hold a candle to the temptations show. The six has good singing, but there is no story line and the show is flat and boring. The temptations show on the other hand, told a beautiful story, with superb singing, dancing and music. I was emotionally engaged totally from the beginning to the end in the temptations show. On a scale of 1-10, ain't too proud is a 9.5, and the six us a 6. If you have to pick one of the two, pick ain't too proud.
Ain’t Too Proud
By far one of the best shows! This is a must see. The dancing and the singing and the talent you will see in this show is phenomenal. So much talent and all brought together in this show. Loved our seats in row L. A great story of the group goes along with all the dancing and singing. We have a new appreciation for their music after seeing this show!
